Visiting Argonne - COVID-19 Health and Safety Protocols for Visitors

When you Arrive

Argonne is committed to helping protect the health and safety of those who visit our site. Information below applies to visitors who attend a meeting at Argonne National Laboratory. 

DuPage County (where Argonne National Laboratory is located) is currently at high transmission level for COVID-19.  While in high or medium transmission, a COVID-19 vaccination card or proof of negative test within 72-hours of site access is required for Gate Pass issuance.

All Business visitors (excludes ride share drivers) must present one of the following to be issued a gate pass:

  • Provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination.  Argonne accepts printed or digital copies of all vaccines approved by the World Health Organization.
    OR

  • Provide proof of a vaccine exemption from their employer or home institution and proof of enrollment in a COVID-19 screening program through their employer or home institution that tests at least weekly.
    OR

  • Provide proof of a vaccine exemption from their employer or home institution AND negative results from a COVID-19 test conducted within 72 hours of site access. Visitor will receive a gate pass valid for up to three days at the Visitor Information Center (VIC) based on the date of the test result and approved visit duration.

Argonne will accept printed or digital test results from either a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test or a rapid antigen test performed by a health care provider no more than 72 hours prior to entry.  Results from at-home testing kits do not meet Argonne standards.

Follow all safety protocols posted by the Lab, including guidance on face coverings and social distancing. 

Respect capacity limits in meeting rooms and other public rooms.
