Overview and Outcome
The Genesis Mission: Hands-on Hackathon is designed with one clear outcome in mind: every Genesis Mission RFA Award team leaves with a strong starting point for integrating their scientific workflow into the Genesis Mission Platform. The Hackathon will provide RFA Award teams with focused access to technical expertise, open capabilities and services, and computing resources to advance near-term project needs, resolve or characterize technical barriers, and identify common requirements that help inform continued development of ModCon and AmSC.

A Track for Every Stage of Development
Whether your RFA Award team is just getting oriented or already deep into development, this Hackathon is built to move you meaningfully closer to advanced development and milestone success. Time is critical, so we've structured the Hackathon to meet every team exactly where they are. Because each RFA Award team is at a different stage of maturity, the RFA Award teams will participate in three tracks based on self-selected project readiness. Therefore, rather than a one-size-fits-all agenda, the Hackathon is organized across three progressive tracks — Foundations, Intermediate, and Advanced.
Registration
This Genesis Mission: Hands-on Hackathon is open to invited members of the RFA Award teams (2 participants per team), along with the Genesis Mission Platform Team and DOE representatives. The Hackathon will only be for open, non-CUI and/or sensitive data. Registration is required. Attendance is limited to 600 participants and will close September 30, 2026 (or earlier if maximum capacity is reached).
Foreign Nationals: The visitor registration process requires 14–45 business days for approval. Although we are now beyond the recommended 45-day submission window and cannot guarantee that site access will be approved prior to the meeting, we are willing to proceed with your request. To allow sufficient processing time, you must complete your registration no later than Friday, August 28, 2026. Note, registration does not guarantee admittance. Do not make travel plans until you have received a formal confirmation, confirming your participation in the Hackathon. You will then receive information on site access, as well as a final Agenda and Hackathon materials.
