The 2027 Future Light Source Workshop (FLS 2027) will be hosted at Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) August 29th, 2027 to September 3rd, 2027.
The FLS workshop series has a rich history, dating back to the 1990s. The inaugural FLS workshop was held in Grenoble in 1996, hosted by the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF). This was followed by a series of landmark workshops: FLS 1999 at Argonne National Laboratory, FLS 2002 in Hyogo, FLS 2006 in Hamburg, FLS 2010 in Menlo Park, FLS 2012 in Newport News, FLS 2018 in Shanghai, and most recently FLS2023 in Lucerne.
In the tradition of this workshop series, FLS 2027 will bring together leading international scientists to exchange ideas, share innovations, and discuss best practices in accelerator-based light sources, emerging development trends, and key enabling technologies.
The workshop program will feature plenary talks, focused working group sessions, and two dedicated poster sessions. Working groups will cover four major themes: linac-based light sources, ring-based light sources, compact light sources, and key technologies.
In addition, FLS 2027 will host a vibrant industrial exhibition, welcoming both national and international companies to showcase their latest technologies and solutions. This exhibition will provide a valuable platform for networking and fostering meaningful dialogue between delegates, researchers, and industry exhibitors.
