Title: Challenges in Application Migration and Deployment on Large Clusters
Abstract:
Modern scientific applications are often complex assemblies of many different executables, libraries, scripts, and configuration files. Compared to classical monolithic HPC applications, these are challenging to migrate between computing sites, as well as to deploy efficiently to thousands of nodes. This talk will give an overview of some applications that present software deployment challenges, and survey methods of addressing them, including global filesystems, user-level build tools, efficient container deployment, and workflow integration.
