Abstract
The Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) will be the world's largest neutrino experiment once completed, and the largest HEP experiment located in the United States. DUNE's science goals include understanding the neutrino CP-violating phase and mass ordering, searching for physics beyond the standard model, and understanding neutrinos from astrophysical sources such as supernovae. DUNE's construction and development coincide with the recent explosion of progress in artificial intelligence, which promises to increase operational efficiency and shorten the time from data-taking to discovery if harnessed effectively. After a brief introduction to DUNE, its scientific goals, and current status, this talk will discuss the software and computing challenges within DUNE, and the ongoing efforts to address them. We will conclude with a survey of AI-focused efforts within the collaboration and some plans for adapting to the continually-changing AI landscape and incorporating AI into many areas of DUNE.
