Arriving on site with a driver
Every person entering the Argonne site must show photo identification and be badged. If you are utilizing a transportation service where you have a driver (uber/lyft/limo/taxi), your driver will be required to provide a photo ID and obtain a gate pass. If your driver is not comfortable with this, you may have to walk from the gate to the guest house (approximately a 15 minute walk). Because of this, we recommend the following companies that are familiar with Argonne's policies:
A1 Limousine (630) 833-3788, option 2
United Limousine (630) 969-3865
American Taxi (847) 673-1000
Transportation
Public transportation is not easily accessible from the laboratory. While transportation is not needed for on-site events, your mobility offsite will be limited unless you have a rental car.
If using a GPS visitors are recommended to enter location text as “Cass Avenue and Northgate Road, Lemont, Illinois” in order to reach the Argonne Information Center at the Main Gate entrance. Otherwise you may be directed to alternate gate entrances which are controlled-access.
By Car
Argonne is easily accessible by car from downtown Chicago, as well as from Chicago's two airports.
Chicago Midway International Airport is the closer of the two airports, located approximately 17 miles away. To reach Argonne from Midway Airport, take Cicero Avenue north to I-55. Enter I-55 south and continue for about 12 miles to Cass Avenue. Exit south on Cass Ave (exit 273A) and turn right at the Argonne sign on Northgate Road, immediately south of I-55. Follow Northgate Road to the Argonne Information Center.
O'Hare International Airport is located approximately 25 miles from Argonne. To reach Argonne from O'Hare Airport, take I-294 south to I-55. In order to enable an iCal export link, your account needs to have an API key created. This key enables other applications to access data from within Indico even when you are neither using nor logged into the Indico system yourself with the link provided. Once created, you can manage your key at any time by going to 'My Profile' and looking under the tab entitled 'HTTP API'. Further information about HTTP API keys can be found in the Indico documentation.
Additionally to having an API key associated with your account, exporting private event information requires the usage of a persistent signature. This enables API URLs which do not expire after a few minutes so while the setting is active, anyone in possession of the link provided can access the information. Due to this, it is extremely important that you keep these links private and for your use only. If you think someone else may have acquired access to a link using this key in the future, you must immediately create a new key pair on the 'My Profile' page under the 'HTTP API' and update the iCalendar links afterwards.
