Description

Please join us for a DOE-sponsored symposium on the “Impact of Extreme Weather Events on Future Offshore Wind Energy”, to be held in-person at the Argonne National Laboratory in Lemont, Illinois (30 min drive from Chicago O’Hare airport).

The symposium will be 2 days in total - June 1st and 2nd - with the focus on the scientific and engineering challenges of modeling, designing, and operating offshore wind turbines in hurricane-prone regions within the U.S. continental shelf and territories. Our goal is to initiate and facilitate a dialogue between diverse groups of experts from industry, government/regulatory bodies, research institutions and academia, in order to identify knowledge gaps, research priorities and rank industry-wide problems. The symposium will consist of a number of presentations on topics of interest followed by breakout discussions. The discussions and technical proceedings will be published in a technical report.
